He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Burton and Lydia Burton (Gladys); his son Melvin; his siblings, Joseph, Raymond, Lillian, Muriel, Gladys, Louise and Violet; his son-in-law Donald Gates; his grandson-in-law Dion Collins; his granddaughters, Lisa and Kayla Burton; and his great grandchild Alex Bourne.

He is survived by: his children, Lloyd Burton (Rosalyn), David Burton (Loretta), Goldie Lewis (Calvin) and Doreen Gates; and his grandchildren, Carolyn Burton (Dwight Snow), Cory Burton (Krista), Craig Burton, Heather Harnum (Matthew), Cynthia Burton (Brent Venman), Chad Burton (Genevieve), Kayla Collins and Krista Guy (Robert). He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren, 1 great great Grandson and many nieces and nephews.
