It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Mary O'Brien (Torbay, Newfoundland), who passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald; her parents, Mary Freake and Leslie Freake; her in-laws, Bridget and John O'Brien (Jack); her daughter-in-law Lisa O'Brien; her brother-in-law Eric Squires; her siblings, Dennis Freake and Madeline Freake; her siblings-in-law, Elizabeth O'Brien, Lorraine O'Brien, Michael O'Brien and Maurice O'Brien; her sons, John (Jordanna), Keith (Jennifer) and Ken (Lynn); her grandchildren, Kielan (Adam Buzzard), Ben, Rogan, Maya and Noah; and her great grandchildren, Sadie and Emmie.
She is survived by: her sister Elizabeth Squires; her niece Heather Hopkins (Rob); her great-niece Lily; her great-nephew Kael of Ben's Mom Karen; her close friend Francis Crotty; and her caregiver Mercy Hospital.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Caul's Funeral Home (84 Lemarchant Rd, St. John's, NL A1C2G8). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Caul's Chapel, LeMarchant Road. A burial will be held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at the same location.
