It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Mary O'Brien (Torbay, Newfoundland), who passed away on January 29, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Gerald; her parents, Mary Freake and Leslie Freake; her in-laws, Bridget and John O'Brien (Jack); her daughter-in-law Lisa O'Brien; her brother-in-law Eric Squires; her siblings, Dennis Freake and Madeline Freake; her siblings-in-law, Elizabeth O'Brien, Lorraine O'Brien, Michael O'Brien and Maurice O'Brien; her sons, John (Jordanna), Keith (Jennifer) and Ken (Lynn); her grandchildren, Kielan (Adam Buzzard), Ben, Rogan, Maya and Noah; and her great grandchildren, Sadie and Emmie.

She is survived by: her sister Elizabeth Squires; her niece Heather Hopkins (Rob); her great-niece Lily; her great-nephew Kael of Ben's Mom Karen; her close friend Francis Crotty; and her caregiver Mercy Hospital.
