He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Brosnan and Lily Brosnan. He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his children, Éamonn, Eileen (Daniela) and Tomás (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Séamus, Sophie, Tiernan, Abigail, Morgan and Marcelo; his siblings, Noreen (Dan), James (Angela), Mary (Coley), Lucy (Gerry) and Eleanor (Tadgh); and his brother-in-law Robert Loughney. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Memorial University for scholarships in biochemistry or to Parkinson Canada.
