He was predeceased by: his wife Olga; his parents, Olga Barnes and Bert Barnes; his brothers, Lloyd and Edgar; his nephew Mark Mulcahy; his parents-in-law, Violet and Ferdinand Earle; his brothers-in-law, David Earle, Paul Ennis and Calvin Squires; and his niece Pamela Ennis.

He is survived by: his children, Steven (Julie), Geoffrey (Indira) and Laura Nesbit (Chris); his grandchildren, Nadira, Pippa, Mallory and Alexander; his siblings, Albert Barnes (Sandra), Michael Barnes, Joyce Howe (Spencer), Ann Barrett (Howard), Mary Dawe (Terry) and Shirley Barnes; his sister-in-law Margaret Barnes (late Lloyd); his godson David Barnes (Amanda); and his sisters-in-law, Sandra Squires (late Cal), Una Douthett (Harry), Margaret Fowler (Kelvin), Linda Bowering (Ray), Paula Ennis (late Paul), Pamela Vokey (Paul) and Barbara Earle (late David).
