He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bennett and Mary Bennett; his siblings, James, Patrick, Richard Bennett, Helene Whalen (Cyril), Violet Ivey (James), Bertha Picco (Cornelius), Carrie Lowery (Bob) and Annie Picco (Charles); his sister-in-law Alice Bennett; his parents-in-law, Mary and Robert Hurley; and his brother-in-law Tom Hurley.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia (Patsy); his son James Bennett; his granddaughters, Maria, Mallory and Chelsea; his brothers, Joseph Bennett and William Bennett (Irene); his sisters-in-law, Agnes Bennett, Josephine Bennett, Mary Bambrick and Margaret Kelly; and also Susan Carter.

In his memory, in-lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burin Peninsula Health Care Foundation.
