He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Vaters and Jessie Vaters; his brothers, Eugene, Harris and Perry; his siblings-in-law, Douglas Barfoot, Louise and Mary Vaters; his parents-in-law, Ernest and Faith Toope; and his siblings-in-law, Stuart Toope, Sidney King, Albert Dalton, Jessie Toope, Evelyn Toope, Audrey Ivany and Geraldine Garland.

He is survived by: his children, Rodney (Catherine) and Krista Bailey (Leonard); his grandchildren, Maddison Cook Vaters and Brandon Bailey; his siblings, Lindbergh (Loretta), Lionel (Rosemary) and Phyllis Barfoot; his siblings-in-law, Hedley Toope (Kathleen), Calvin (Fay), Stirling Ivany, Fred Garland and Erma Dalton; and his pet Blackie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
