Gregory Newman Williams Obituary
Passed away after a lengthy illness at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital.
Greg was predeceased by his parents Bert and Ruth (Downs) Williams.
Leaving to mourn, his loving wife of 42 years, Janet; his children Tony (Amanda), granddaughter Ally, Krista (Chris); grandsons Reid and Roan, Katie (Gary), grandsons Lucas and Nate; also leaving to mourn sisters Phyllis (Paul) Walsh and Peggy Williams in Alberta; sister and brother-in-law Gladys (Gary) Dalton; nieces and nephews and extended family members; special uncle Charles and wife Teresa who cooked many lunches for Greg; also, special friends Barry and Bev Strickland.
Greg's grandkids were his world and he enjoyed teaching them gardening. Greg was at best in the outdoors from cutting wood, hunting, fishing, and going to our cabin in Horse Chops. Many years were spent at Horse Chops enjoying the outdoors with our children teaching them to fish and enjoy the outdoors.
He dearly loved hunting and had many beagles and bird hunting dogs throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting moose and caribou and had travelled many parts of the island.
Greg also enjoyed his fishing trips with his son in later years, be it in Horse Chops, Indian Bay or out cod fishing.
He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Association where he enjoyed the many functions and get togethers with his fellow firefighters.
Greg also loved his motorcycling with Janet and his most cherished friends of the GWRRA of NL. They had many trips on motorcycles across the province, country and continent be it a rally, weekender, or day trip for an ice cream or meal, just an excuse to meet up with friends.
You are so special and we can't forget Doctor Butler and Jennifer Williams from the Dementia Program who helped us keep Greg home with the personal visits and guidance with his Lewy Body Dementia. Lastly, but not least Greg's sister Phyllis and my sister Gladys, for being there for me and Greg. Through our many lengthy conversations, all hours day or night thank you both for being my rock through all of this. Special thank you also, to Barry and Bev Strickland for their friendship and support.
There will be no visitation and by request he will be cremated with a celebration of his life at a later date.
Donations in Gregory's memory can be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation.
