He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Penney and Marian Penney; and his siblings, Leonard Penney and Shirley Saunders. He is survived by: his children, Dwayne, Leonard Penney of Marystown, Shawna Penney of Marystown and Jamie-Lee Tibbo of Halifax; and his siblings, Archie Penney (Louise) of Creston, James Penney (Yvonne) of Halifax and Audra Penney of Marystown.

Due to the current Public Health Advisory of COVID-19 a private funeral will take place at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston.

In Shawn's memory, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Penney Family.
