He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Whalen and Louise Whalen of Lumsden, NL.; his siblings, Edgar and Priscilla; and his son-in-law Len Ivany.

He is survived by: his wife Wanda; his children, Shannon and Jared (Julia); his grandsons, Caleb and Gabriel; and his siblings, Josephine (Howard), Emma, Shirley, Jack (Patsy), Greg (Norma), Bruce (Susan) and Morris (Lynn).
