He was predeceased by: his father Alexander (Sandy); and his nephew David MacKenzie. He is survived by: his close friend Regina Cuza (Jean); his daughter Tina MacKenzie; his grandchildren, Colby, Cyrus and Isabella; his son Brenton MacKenzie; his stepdaughter Megan Fitzpatrick of Winnipeg; his mother Louise MacKenzie of Ontario; his brother Donald MacKenzie of Ontario; and his nephew Sean MacKenzie of Ontario.

Donations in Gary's memory may be made to the family.
