He was predeceased by: his parents, Godfrey Hapgood and Pearl Hapgood; his sister Hilda Hunter; and his siblings-in-law, Faith Stuckless, Garfield Hunter and Patrick Hanlon.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda (Hunter); his daughter Tammy Barber (Vernon); his siblings, Allie Hanlon, Wallace Hapgood (Nola), Brenda McGee, Bonnie White (Ernie), Olive Oldford Minnie (Norm) and Terry Hapgood; his siblings-in-law, Ella Yetman (Bob) and Cecil Stuckless; his son Shawn Samson (Kim); and his close friends, Ken Cave and John Hennessey. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

According to COVID restrictions, a private visitation is planned.
