He was predeceased by: his son Doug; and his brother Otto. He is survived by: his wife Minnie; his children, Donna, Brian and Ed; his grandchildren, Michael (Jessica), Leigha (Blake) and Hannah; his great grandchildren, Elsie and Jesse; his sister-in-law Margaret; his pet Ricky; and also Tassie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, numerous close friends.

As per Ed's wishes, donations in his memory may be made to Ronald McDonald House or a charity of one's choice.
