He was predeceased by: his wife Gladys; his parents, Isaac and Bessie; his siblings, Nellie, Hilda and Jack; and his children-in-law, Edmund and Daphne.

He is survived by: his children, Darlene Whalen (Barry), Harry Hodder (Yvonne), Clara Abbott (Neville) and Hilda Lambert; and his grandchildren, Stephen (Marsha), Jonathon (Samantha), Nancy (Michael), David (Amanda), Tina (Scott), Tracey (Brian), Barry (Joan), Cindy (Jim), Brett (Cathy) and Kim (Todd). He is also survived by extended family and friends.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ellis' memory to St. Luke's Anglican Church, Grate's Cove.
