He was predeceased by: his parents, Eleazer Mitchell and Emma Mitchell; his parents-in-law, Adam and Ida Penney; his brothers, Lorne and Gus Mitchell; his siblings-in-law, Roy Penney, Graden Shiner, Winston Burden, Maisie, Donna Mitchell and Shirley Burden; his nephew Aubrey Mitchell; and his great grandchild Ellie Rose.

He is survived by: his wife Myrtis; his children, Mike (Kara), Andy (Pauline), Chad (Heather) and Barb (Mike); his grandchildren, Eric (Ebony), Jamie, Greg, Chelsea (Steve), Adam, Brett, Shelby and Brandi (Coner); his great grandchildren, Ember, Abigail and Lucianna; his siblings, Cassie Dicks (Max), Palma Saunders (Ches), Pheobe Rideout (Rayfield), Jack Mitchell (Clowie) and Eugene Mitchell (Chloe); and his brothers-in-law, Melvin Penney (Lucy), Willis Penney (Vivian), Lester Penney (Ruth), Leander Penney (Elsie) and Ross Penney.
