He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Matthews and Elizabeth Matthews; his grandson Jeffrey Matthews; his brothers, Norman Matthews (Florence) and Clyde Matthews (Lorna); his parents-in-law, Byatt and Ada Trimm; and his siblings-in-law, George Trimm (Betty), Lloyd Trimm (Laura), Charles Trimm, Gerald Collins, Ethel (Cecil), Alice (George) and Margaret.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret Matthews; his children, Bruce Matthews of Grand Bank and Terry Kendell (Lloyd) of Grand Bank; his grandchildren, Neva (Dean), Matthew (Glenda) and Courtney (Stefan); his great grandchildren, Jada, Aiden, Evan, Greyson, Chase, Blaire and Bailey; his brother Fred Matthews (Betty); and his siblings-in-law, Lenora (Jake), Eileen, Stanley (Pheobe) and Wayne.
In Eli's memory donations may be made to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund.
