He was predeceased by: his parents, Minnie and Phillip; and his siblings, Jessie, Florence and Freddie.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Smith Downey; his children, Rick (Selina), Fred and Jackie (Alan); his grandchildren, Chris (Rosemary), Amanda (Brian), Renee, Dylan, Layne and Samantha (Jon); his great grandchildren, Jade and Naomi; and his siblings, May (Ralph), Sally, Marina (Harry), Belinda (Joe) and Lloyd (Rosalind).

Following government legislation due to the current pandemic, a private visitation will take place at Serenity Funeral Home, Grand Bank Saturday Visitation 7-9, Family will be receiving visitors in groups of 5. followed by a private funeral service from Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bank with interment following at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to Burin SPCA or Salvation Army Cemetery Grand Bank.
