He was predeceased by: his wife Joan J. Abbott (Birmingham) of Petty Harbour, NL.; his parents, Solomon Abbott and Stella Abbott; and his sister Betsy Hunt. He is survived by: his children, Jamie (Christina) and Jo-Anne (George); his grandchildren, Jenna, Luke, Emma, Joshua and Kate; and his close friend Evelyn Hill (family: Sheila Fisher, Shirley Shea, Erika, Jake Fisher). He is also survived by nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
