He was predeceased by: his parents, Eli Harris and Hilda Harris; his sister Barbara Willcott; his father-in-law Reuben Hickman; and his brothers-in-law, Eldon Sweetapple, Reuben Hickman, Jr. and Ernest Willcott.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn; his sons, Craig Bullock (Carol Ann Haley) of Fortune and Robert Harris (Heather) of Mount Pearl; his siblings, Linda Engram (Arch) of Fortune, Mary Willcott of St. Alban and Pat Harris (Della) of Fortune; his parents-in-law, Edwin and Margaret Piercey; his siblings-in-law, Gilbert Willcott, David Hickman (Patricia), Neil Piercey (Dawn), Patricia Follett (Clyde), Joyce Sweetapple and Bridgette Hickman; and his grandson Zachary Harris.

In Sylvester's memory, donations may be made to the Fortune United Church Cemetery Fund.
