He was predeceased by: his children, Kevin Michael, Patrick Hackett and Bernice Hackett; his parents, Samuel Hackett and Mary Alice Hackett; his parents-in-law, John Felix and Priscilla McCarthy; his siblings, Joseph Hackett, Thomas Hackett (Mary), Eugene Hackett, Sarah Clarke (John) and Catherine Lavhey (Henry); his son-in-law Arthur Mitchell; and his siblings-in-law, Patrick McCarthy, Anna Warren (Robert), Mary Bridget McCarthy and Bernice Hackett (Jack).
He is survived by: his wife Theresa; and his children, John Joseph Hackett (Ann) of Terrenceville, Catherine Mitchell of Terrenceville, Dolores Kearley (Brian), Trina Labour (Rece) of Marystown, Michelle Hackett of St. John's and Marsha Hackett (Angela) of St. John's.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Anne's R. C. Cemetery.
In George's memory, in-lieu of flowers donations may be made to CNIB Foundation.
