He was predeceased by: his parents, Beatrice Whidden and Harry Whidden. He is survived by: his wife Olive Marie; his daughters, Patricia of Nova Scotia, Sharon of Nova Scotia, Lori of Nova Scotia, Shelly of Nova Scotia and Tammy of Nova Scotia; his stepchildren, Marlene of Nova Scotia, Debbie of Nova Scotia, Diane of Nova Scotia, Joy Callahan (Tim) of Corner Brook and Joe Baker (Lindsay) of Nova Scotia; and his sister Sandra Tattrie (Bruce) of Nova Scotia. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 3 nephews.
