He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip and Annie; and his brothers, Lawrence, Garland and William.

He is survived by: his wife Charity; his son Jonathan (Matthew); his grandson Jensen; his siblings, Wilson (Queenie), Calvin (Audrey), Brian (Maxine), Bruce (Eva), Leonard (Vedran), Lorraine, Kathleen and Denise; and his siblings-in-law, Sarah Francis, Mary Ellen, Vida (Sidney), Elizabeth (Gordon), Bernice, Caroline (Rowland), Martha (Samuel), Diane (William), Susie (Jean), William (Lucy), Reginald (Nora) and Jeremiah. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in his name to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
