She was predeceased by: her parents, Wilfred Brake and Joan Brake; her grandchild Leo-James; and her brother Don Brake (Glen). She is survived by: her children, Christa Joseph (Richard), Patrick Joseph and Donald Joseph (Georgia); her grandchildren, Virginia, Skylar, Isaiah, Chloe, Claire, Londyn, Lyviah, Alex and Sawyer-James; her siblings, Judy (Don), Brian (Ruby) and Glenn; and her nieces and nephews, Brianna, Troy, Scott, Stephen and Kody. She is also survived by other relatives, and many friends.

As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Joy's memory to a charity of one's choice.
