He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Abbott and Catherine Abbott (Howlett) of Corner Brook; his wife Florence Ann Abbott; his son Michael; his granddaughters, Jennifer and Allisen; and his siblings, Tom, John, Joe, Jim, Ted, Bob, Jane, Clara, Molly and Maude.
He is survived by: his children, Jenny Smith (Paul), Mary, Rod (Colleen), Brian (Gladys), Bill (Dawn), Bob, Cyndi and Sherri Hackett (Mark); his grandchildren, Paul (Alice), Mark (Sherry-Lynn), Peter (Natalia), Erin (Mark), Tyler (Danielle), Stephen (Jodi), Michael, Melanie, Stacy, Shelby, Colin (Alanna), Haleigh, Kassie (Adam), Nathan and Cole; his great grandchildren, Andrew, Claire, Evan, Ryan, Joshua, Sienna, Hunter, Ty, Tayelyn, Colton, Aubrey, Dwayne, Sophie and Maximus; his sisters, Claire Holland (Vince), Annette Hawkins, Patricia Stratton (Cluney) and Marie White; his parents-in-law, Alice and William Benoit; and his siblings-in-law, Patrick, Remi, Edward, Clem, Enos, Mary, Rita, Elsie and Doreen.
