Angus Noel Willar Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Angus Willar, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Angus was born on June 17, 1934 in Grand Falls, Newfoundland and Labrador, and passed away on November 2, 2024, at Lakeridge Health Ajax Pickering, leaving behind a legacy of love and hard work.
Angus married the love of his life, Eileen, in 1956, beginning a partnership that would last for decades, until her passing in 2012. Together, they raised four children, building a close-knit family that was always at the center of his world.
For over 30 years, Angus built a successful career in the business world moving from sales to eventual ownership of an ice cream and dairy company, making our house a popular hangout with our friends! His work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of all who worked with him, and he built many friendships that enriched his life.
As children, we enjoyed an idyllic life in Corner Brook, NL. It was there, that Dad introduced us to the ice rink and ski hill which filled our winters, and "the cabin" where we spent our summers mastering water skiing and cottage DIY. Later, this led to his passion for woodworking, which he honed after he and our mom moved from Newfoundland to Kingston following his retirement. Many winter months were spent in sunny Florida, where he divided his time between the golf course and his cherished boat. In Kingston, Dad found a new community at The Anglican Parish of Christ Church Cataraqui where he developed new friendships and volunteered for many years.
Dad will be remembered for his warm heart, his charm, and the legacy he leaves behind in the family he loved deeply. He will be dearly missed by his children, Glenn (Sheila), Jeffrey (Susan), Paul (Catherine), and Cathy (David); his grandchildren, Kristen (Ben), Jamie (Kylee), Josh (Hannah), Christopher, Kylie, Lora, Allie, and Megan; his great-grandchildren, Thomas and William; and his sisters Ruth and Barbara (Bob).
Angus was predeceased by his parents, Malcolm and Mildred, and his in-laws, Reg, Randolf, Myrtle, and Vera, and companion Martha.
There will be a private family internment and celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
