He was predeceased by: his parents, Alexander Rideout (Sandy) and Clara Rideout; his mother-in-law Dorothy Hiscock; and his sister Cynthia. He is survived by: his wife Anne; his children, Alan (Joy), Rick, Eugene (Tammy), Stephen (Tanya), Bernice (Gordie) and Melvin Jr. (Diana); and his siblings, Sandra (Dave), Daphne (Mick), Helen (Wilfred), Lillian (Robbie), Lorraine, Robert (Heather) and Stephen (Jenny).
As expressions of sympathy donation can be made to The Janeway Children Hospital in memory of Melvin Sr.
