He was predeceased by: his uncles, Phillip Payne, Noel Butler, Jack Butler (Wanda), Rendall Matthews (Ilene) and Walter Rock Matthews (Vera); his aunt Katie Hynes; and his mother Eliza Butler.

He is survived by: his son Jordan Strong of Alberta; his father Douglas Gillingham (Florence Patey); and his siblings, Emma Murrins (Gerald), Rick, Randy (Greta), Rodney (Loretta) and Floyd (Stephanie). He is also survived by his extended family including his cousins, nieces and nephews as well as friends and co-workers.
