It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shirley Gladys James (Channel-Port-aux-Basques, Newfoundland), who passed away on November 6, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Durnford and Suzanna Durnford; her daughter Darlene Pink; her sisters, Maggie Durnford and Pearl James (Gordon); her nephews, Keith Skinner and Gary Skinner; and her siblings-in-law, Robert James, Edgar James (Gerine), Ben Thorne, Hazel Skinner (Henry), Debbie Peters (Victor) and Frances Durnford.
She is survived by: her husband Ivan James; her daughter Paulette McNeil (Wayne) of Port; her grandchildren, Matthew Osmond of St. John's, NL, Ashley White (Timmy) of Port and Candace White of Port; her great grandchildren, Emily and Julia; her siblings, Newman Durnford and Juanita Thorne of Burgeo, NL; and her sister-in-law Lena James of Antigonish, NS. She is also survived by extended family and friends.
Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Shirley's memory can be made to the St. James Anglican Church Fund or the St. James Anglican Cemetery Fund.
