He was predeceased by: his father Joseph; his parents-in-law, Shirley and John; and his brother-in-law Tony. He is survived by: his wife Florence; his mother Lillian; his sons, Johnathan (Chantelle) and Stephen (Stephanie); and his siblings, Bernice (Gord), Bev (Jim), Donna (Paul), Elaine (Paul), Bern (Colleen), Rob (Kim) and Ron (Bev). He is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews, along with a wide circle of extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joseph's memory to the Newfoundland and Labrador branch of Beagle Paws, an organization close to his heart.
