He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley; his parents, Mary and John; his parents-in-law, Charles and Marion; his siblings, Baxter, Arthur (Brenda) and Jessie Smith; and his brothers-in-law, Shawn Penny and Jim Penny.

He is survived by: his sons, Charles (Frances) and John (Terri); his stepson Kevin Strowbridge; his granddaughter Tamara; his siblings, Cyril (Greta), Sam (Martha), Viola Smith (Austin) and Cynthia Clarke; and his siblings-in-law, Arch Penny (Louise), Audrey Penny, Lorraine Saunders and Yvonne Tibbo.
