She was predeceased by: her husband Calvin Hale; her parents, William Wells and Jessie Wells; and her siblings, Gertie Barnes and Pearce Wells.

She is survived by: her children, Major Lyndon Hale (Major Lisa), Randy Hale (Major Carolyn), Cliff Hale (Doreen), Glenda Anstey (Milton), Melody Marshall and Bonnie Samson (Gerald); her siblings, Joy Brett (Everett), Marilyn Dwyer (Gerald), Karen Saunders (Fred), Harvey Wells (Barbara), Cliff Wells (Maureen) and Don Wells (Mildred); her grandchildren, Jeff, Steve, Rebecca, Evannah, Jonathan, Candice, Corey, Amanda, Sarah and Allison; her great grandchildren, Caleb, Isabelle and Finn; and her sons-in-law, Gerald Samson and Milton Anstey. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Donations in Verna's memory can be made to the Community Care Ministries through the Salvation Army Citadel, Botwood.
