He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Mills and Signee Mills; his son Donald; his siblings, Gilbert, Lloyd, Eugene, Gary, Donald, Rose Bartlett, Patsy Layden and Marjorie Budgell; his mother-in-law Jane Faulkner; and his nephews, Hooper Mills and Darren Layden.

He is survived by: his sons, Paul (Carla), Eric, Cecil, Jody, Kenneth (Rose) and David (Cindy); his sisters, Marie Bartlett (Rayfield) and Michelle Sheppard (Reg); and his siblings-in-law, Abner Layden (Fay), Katherine Kelly and Bessie Mills. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many extended family.
