He was predeceased by: his wife Viola; his parents, Hubert Barter and Susanna Barter; and his siblings, John, James, Donald, Maxwell, Robert and Doris Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Sandra Lewis (Eugene), Eric (Judi) and Roy; his sister Evelyn Tuck (Clarence); his sister-in-law Joyce Barter; his grandchildren, James Barter (Shariah), Mark Barter (Valerie), Andrea Samson (Michael) and Amanda Lewis (Eric St-Amand); and his great grandchildren, Todd Samson, William Barter, Emma St-Amand and Louis Samson. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

As an expression of sympathy, if one so wishes, donations may be made in Clifford's memory to St. Barnabas Anglican Church or to the Bay de Verde Volunteer Fire Department.
