He was predeceased by: his parents, John Downey and Margaret Downey; his siblings, Ambrose Downey (Elizabeth), Bertram Downey (Madeline), Aloysius Downey (Irene), Cyril Downey (Marjorie), Elias Downey (Mary Ann), Harold Downey, Frances Desjardins, Florence Shea (Joe), Madeline Shelley (Jack) and Cecilia Downey; his parents-in-law, Mike and Louise Antle; and his siblings-in-law, Larry Bouzane, Jack Antle, Violet Lewis (Greg) and Irene Murray (Kevin).
He is survived by: his parent-in-law Jenita; his wife Jenita Downey of Baie Verte, NL; his children, Brenda Downey (Dave Burton) of Baie Verte, NL, Brent Downey (Renee) and John Downey (Tristan); his grandchildren, Jennifer (Taylor) of Thomas, Stephanie (Shamus), Gabriel and Natalie; his siblings, Kathleen Bouzane and Carmel Phillipps (Brent); and his siblings-in-law, Beatrice Downey, Roland Desjardins, Ted Antle (Pasty), Peggy Antle and Olivera Antle.
