He was predeceased by: his parents, George McKay and Bessie McKay; his siblings, Heber McKay (Agnes), Calvin McKay, Stephen Matthais McKay, Daisy Parsons (Max) and Ellen Osbourne (Lewis); his parents-in-law, Herbert and Violet Morey; his siblings-in-law, Hughie Morey, Eric Morey (Jean), Ruby Hewlett (Alec), Ches Campbell, James Burton and Roland Rice; and his grandson-in-law Mighty Nyong.

He is survived by: his wife Grace Morey; his sons, Bruce McKay (Gloria) of Seal Cove, NL, Gerald McKay (Doreen) of Grande Cache, AB, Eric McKay (Christine) of Seal Cove, NL, Barry McKay (Diane) of Fort McMurray, AB and Terry McKay (Dena) of Fort McMurray, AB; his grandchildren, Christopher (Elizabeth), Damien, Mefandwy (Joe), Willette (Ruben), Jordan (Trina), Cody (Geneva), Miles (Kylee), Victoria (Mick), Stephen (Kayla), Carla, Alisha (Chris), Emma (Perry) and Terri-Lynn (Jonathon); his sister Tamer Rice; and his siblings-in-law, Annie Campbell, Nealie Burton and Joan Morey.
