He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Matthews and Jessie Matthews (Leonard); his wife Mildred; his brother Lawrence Matthews; and his son-in-law Mark MacPhee.
He is survived by: his daughters, Marianne MacPhee of Hampton, NB, Donna Johnston (Tom) of Saint John, NB, Brenda Baxter (Bev) of Slave Lake, AB, Evelyn Thomas (Jeff) of Carsonville, NB and Bobbi Jo Matthews of Upham, NB; his grandchildren, Mellissa (Richard), Anthony (Alicia), Krista (Steven), Scott (Jess), Kayla (Brian), Russell (Melissa), Brandi, Chase, Sean, Cheyenne (Nick) and Carly (Taylor); and his sisters, Anne Osbourne of Ontario and Dorothy Vanderbect of Ontario. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Donations made to the Church of the Ascension, Apohaqui, the Canadian Lung Association, or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
