He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Fowler and Olive Fowler; his daughter Juanita Atkins; his siblings, Hazen Fowler, Lloyd Fowler, Fraser Fowler and Enid Ackles; and his brother-in-law Doug Ackles.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Fowler; his children, Gordon Fowler (Cynthia) and Marilyn Baird (Bruce); his son-in-law Alan Atkins (Tiffany Russell); his stepdaughter Kelly Porter (Mark Hamann); his grandchildren, Matthew Atkins (Jiyoung), Dr. Stephanie Fowler (Mark John), Allison Fowler, Dr. Andrew Baird (Shannon McCarter), Hilliary Baird (Nicholas Cantwell) and Heather Hughes (Jeremy); his great grandchildren, Ara, Jenna, Lily, Jacob, Quinn, Brooke and Myles; his sisters-in-law, Muriel Fowler, Jean Fowler and Ann Fowler; and his caregiver Dorothy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
