It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Hazen of Sussex, New Brunswick, born in Saint John, New Brunswick, who passed away on November 29, 2023, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth Hazen and Hilda Hazen (Colwell); and his siblings-in-law, Joyce Hazen and Glendon Steeves. He is survived by: his wife Janet Hazen (Hodgson); his children, Mark Hazen (Charline Poirier) of Riverview, NB, Wendy Jones (Wayne) of Carencro, LA and Brian Hazen (Laura Watson) of Bloomfield, NB; his siblings, Francis Hazen of Sussex, NB and Persis Starkey-Steeves of Quispamsis, NB; and his grandsons, Justin Roberts (Hira) and Tanner Roberts (Sharlie). He is also survived by four great-grandchildren.
When Janet needed to move from their home into care, George was dedicated to visiting her everyday, even if it meant during Covid restrictions that he sat outside her bedroom window.
