He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence MacAfee and Doris MacAfee (Hart); and his brother Lorne MacAfee. He is survived by: his sons, Erin MacAfee of Sussex, Morgan Watson (Lisa) and Jimmy Watson; his sister Mary Michaelson (Ron) of Florida; and his grandchildren, Sacha and Caleb.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, December 15th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Sussex Golf and Curling Club (148 Picadilly Rd, Picadilly, NB E4E5H8).

“Sadden to learn of Doug passing, we grew up in town together played sports, mostly hockey. Our Dads were very close and played on many hockey teams including the 1938 Maritime Intermediate Champions. My Dad Bud McEwen, Doug's Dad Lawrence MacAfee and Gary's dad Sam Stephenson played in a small bane together, the three are immortalize on the Dunster Building Mural by the racetrack, they swapped instruments in a forties' photos and that was the one chosen for the mural. I posted the original photo today as well.”
