He was predeceased by: his father John Kenneth Giesbrecht. He is survived by: his mother Frieda Giesbrecht; his wife Judith (Twist); his stepdaughters, Sarah Tsang (Ben) and Amanda Smythe (Colin); his grandchildren, Danielle Duplisea, Madison Kelly-Maund, Abigail McKenna MacFarlane, Kai Tsang, Kingston Tsang and Oliver Smythe; and his sister Leanne Puddicomb. He is also survived by three nieces.
