He was predeceased by: his wife Mary "Jacqueline" (Armstrong); his parents, Karp Balasiuk and Luiba Balasiuk (Karaluk); his daughter Maria Gravelle (John); his brothers, Samuel (Pauline) and Peter (Jacqueline); and his brother-in-law Burton Armstrong (Royce).
He is survived by: his daughter Roberta Pettersson (Bjorn Pettersson); his grandsons, James Gravelle of Toronto, ON and William Pettersson of Sweden; his siblings, Ronald Balasiuk (Patricia), Frances Stolt (late Gerald), Vera Harden (late Clarence), Ruth Birch (late Ted) and Mary Kimpel; his sister-in-law Barbara Ginivan (late Caleb) of Franklin, MA; his friends, Lil and Vaughn Boyle of Breadalbane, NB.; and also Sonya VanTassel (Jay).
