He was predeceased by: his parents, Stuart Benson and Leone Benson (McLaughlin); and his siblings, Helene Guptill, Kathleen and Francis Benson.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra McLachlan Smith of St. Stephen, NB; his children, Deborah Burcham (Terry Bunker) of Allandale, NB and George Benson (Maureen) of Ottawa, ON; his grandson Joshua Burcham (Laurie) of Valley, NS; his great grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas and Alexander Burcham of Valley, NS; his nieces and nephews, Rosalie Campbell of Ottawa, Bonny Gaskill of Grand Manan, Florena Daggett of Grand Manan, Charlotte Frost of Grand Manan, Jacqueline Benson of Florida, Roosevelt Benson of Fredericton and Francis Benson (Angela) of Woodland Maine; and his stepsons, Darren Smith, Mark Smith and Neal Smith of St. Stephen, NB..
