He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Vallie" Stears and Jean Stears (Lavigne). He is survived by: his wife Ruth Stears (Keirstead); his children, Jo-Ellen Burke (Rob) of Quispamsis and R. Scott Stears (Kimberly) of Saint John; his siblings, Harold Stears (Lorraine) of Saint John and Brenda Matheson (Brent) of St. George; his grandchildren, Meaghan, Logan, Emily (Christian) and Lily; his great grandchild Collin; and his close friend Russell Whitehouse. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
