He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Challoner and Mabel Challoner (Elliott); his parents-in-law, Barb and Russ Negus; and his niece Amanda Challoner.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Challoner; his grandchildren, Shyanne Challoner and Brandon Elward (Emily Corbett); his great grandchildren, Lincoln and Hunter Elward; his sisters, Shirley Hope, Suzan Mesheau, Linda Challoner and Lillian Challoner; his close friends, Barry Yeo and Marilyn Strongman; his pet Dolly Challoner; his close friends, Donnie and Nancy Elliott; and his daughters, Tracy and Tanya. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
