He was predeceased by: his parents, Ora Dempster and Marguerite Dempster (Reid); his wife Hazel; his children, David Allan and Ruth Ann; and his siblings, Winston, Glen, Dorothy and Georgina.

He is survived by: his children, Eldon Dempster (Lynn), Susan Galbraith (Gary) and Sharon Turnell (Allan); his grandchildren, Ashley McKiel (Chris), Colin Turnell (Clare Tooley) and Carly Galbraith (Tim Colwell); his great grandchildren, Avery, Aiden McKiel, Reid and Hazel Turnell; his sister Patricia Thompson (Cyril O'Conner); and his sisters-in-law, Roberta Dempster, Jean Payne and Joan Payne. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
