He was predeceased by: his parents, Gerard Butler and Nancy Butler (George); his brothers, Richard Butler and Lorin George; and his niece Shannon Butler.

He is survived by: his daughter Michelle Butler (Dwayne Rogers) of Saint John; his sisters, Nancy Richardson (Robert), Gloria Rushton (Rick) of Quispamsis and Elizabeth "Betty" Macdonald (Ian) of Rothesay; and his aunt Marion Fillmore. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
