He was predeceased by: his parent Charles Swanton; and his siblings, Charles, Dorothy and Claire. He is survived by: his parent Mabel Swanton; his children, Ted Goss (Tracy) of Calgary and Peggy Goss (Bill) of Fredericton; his grandchildren, Jennifer, Sean, Mandy, Tony, Nick, Alex and Matt; and his great grandchildren, Dublin (Wood), Tegan, Gracie, Amelia and Zoe.

Donations in John's memory may be made to Christ Church Cathedral Restoration Fund or Heart and Stroke.
