He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Thorne and Dorothy Thorne; his adoptive mother Susan (Leslie Shaw); and his foster siblings, Kenneth Shaw and Lois Shaw.
He is survived by: his significant other Joyann Thorne; his daughter Katherine Dolan (William); his grandchildren, Kathleen and Elaina Dolan; his son Aaron Thorne (Christene); and his grandchildren, Alexandria Petit Thorne and Madison Thorne.
His most challenging contribution to the Hockey community in Saint John was the development and leadership of securing a franchise in the American Hockey League with the Calgary Flames along with several other business leaders in Saint John.
