He is survived by: his wife Bonnie (Hetherington); his children, Scott (Alison), Heather Ross (Joe) and Aimee Rolemberg (Adam); and his grandchildren, Kayla, Mitchell, Nickolas, Henry, Enzo and Jenna. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At Portland, Byron served on numerous committees and made significant contributions to the maintenance of church properties.
