It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Demetre Bountalas of Saint John, New Brunswick, who passed away on January 11, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Ioannis Bountalas (John) and Garifalia Bountalas (Litsa); his wife Mary; his son Peter; his siblings, Michael Bountalas, Louis Michael, Dino Michael and Athena Podiotis; his nephew John Michael; and his niece Liana Michael.
He is survived by: his sons, Jon (Marilyn), Tony (Carol), George (Iliana) and Michael (Krista); his grandchildren, Mary (Jameson), Celina, Dimitra (Tim) and Dimitris; his great grandchildren, Mavrik and Maxis; his brother Nick Michael (Efthimia); his sisters-in-law, Diamando Michael and Mary Michael; and his nieces, Litsa (George), Dina (Theo) and Ioanna (Takis).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brenan's Funeral Home (111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB E2K3H6). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (33 Dorchester St, Saint John, NB E2L3H7). A burial was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery (Saint John, NB E2M3Y3).
