He was predeceased by: his parents, Milton Phinney and Blanche Phinney (Richards); his son Timothy Byron; his siblings, Audrey and Fred; and his siblings-in-law, Johnny, Chester, Muir, Buddy, Victor, Connie, Dot, Louise and Doris.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Katherine (MacKinnon); his grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany), Amanda (Andrew), Mallory, Shannon (Danielle), Christian, Jacqueline (Andrew), Alexander (Meagan), Emma (Travis), Max, Adam (Sarah Wilson) and Jessica; his siblings, Joan Alder, Wallace and Tom; his daughter-in-law Kathleen; and his sister-in-law Edna MacKinnon. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces and their children.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Jack may be made to the charity of one's choice.
